Do Kwon Arrested in Montenegro: Interior Minister
According to Filip Adzic, the suspect was apprehended at the Podgorica airport using forged documents.
Based on a tweet from the nation’s interior minister, Filip Adzic, Do Kwon, the founder of Terraform Labs, appears to have been detained in Montenegro.
“Montenegrin police have captured a guy suspected of being one of the most wanted fugitives, South Korean national Do Kwon, co-founder and CEO of Singapore-based Terraform Laboratories,” Adzic tweeted.
Kwon has been the focus of multiple investigations and was even on Interpol’s red notice after stablecoin terraUSD (UST) and its $40 billion ecosystem crumbled last year, sending shockwaves across the crypto markets. The suspect was stopped at the Podgorica airport using forged identification, Adzic stated, noting he was still waiting for official confirmation of identity.
The Korean National Police Agency claimed that it has determined the suspect seemed to be Kwon based on the age, name, and nationality of his ID card, according to a report by the Yonhap news agency.
The official testimony of Dritan Abazovic, Montenegro’s prime minister, is presented after Adzic’s unconfirmed account. The post reporting Kwon’s arrest was also shared by Abazovic’s account. Adzic’s account has already been mentioned in official tweets.
